Take a look in your storage box. Is it filled with spices for meat, white rice, white pasta and the like? If so, you will not get the optimal health benefits from your vegan diet. Make sure your storage box is always well stocked with many beans and whole grain grains, as well as superfoods such as kale, spinach, and of course a variety of fruit.

4. Avoid junk food. There are enough products that are vegan, but still terrible for your health. If you only have a fridge filled with frozen pizza, vegan meat replaces and ready meals, you will not save a vegan diet for a long time. Instead, choose for frozen vegetables and berries. This way you can quickly serve a meal on the table that is tasty and healthy.

5. When you go to the supermarket, take a good time to walk through the department store. Vegan food is the perfect excuse to taste all kinds of vegetables you have never eaten before. In a vegan diet, the vegetables will ultimately provide the greatest variety. This is also a reason why vegans often eat healthier than meat eaters because they are forced to create more creative meals. During my time as a vegan, my diet looked much varied and more colourful.

6. Be confident. There are always times when people give you the feeling that you have to explain what you are doing and why. After all, we Dutch people are so used to a piece of meat on our plate that for many people it's a strange thought to not eat this. Be honest about what you do and why and make sure you have enough knowledge of science to underline why vegan food is just as healthy. However, do not discuss with people who are not open to it, which only causes unnecessary stress.

7. As soon as you leave your house, it's important that you always have something to eat with you. Make sure you have enough snacks on your way. It's not that you're hungry because you're eating vegan, but if you miss your lunch or dinner and, for example, stay longer on your way, then you're likely to find something that's right in your diet. small. What fresh fruit, a well-packed salad, or even some nuts are ideal in such cases.

8. Imagine having quarrelled. Do not worry. The key to a successful diet is a lifestyle that you can really live with. There will be some vegans who do not agree with this, but if you just realized that you have accidentally eaten some butter or you notice that your in-laws have cooked a dish that contains a little milk, blame yourself for this then do not put it over. Are you on your way during a city trip and there is no view of vegan food? Do not hesitate and do what you can. When a diet is no longer fun, that's the moment you start thinking it may not be worth it. That brings us to the next point ...
9. Stay strong. The first few days are very difficult, but once you get used to your new lifestyle, it becomes easier and easier. Many of us think of meat when planning the evening meal, but after a few weeks, you will automatically choose a vegan dish and probably no longer think of meat.
